It will be ok

In the middle of the night,

a creak, a panic, and the cat visit,

they take turns taunting my senses.

Next morning, so dreary, feeling weary

blanketed underneath grief; sorrow wrapped like a quilt & stuffed into the walls of this internal castle no noise leaks out

there was pandemonium with missed deadlines, the awkward silence after what you said fell flat, and that accident where you were nearly killed…

It’s later now

all behind you now

wrapped in mis-matched tissue paper & left somewhere in a back room storage container; rusty locks have seen better days

then the creaking begins to echo

inner ear ringing back a message

panic sets in, gripping chest with icy claws

Then cat

marching in, turns in place, a circle upon my chest

settled in with a chipper purr
